For many musicians active in new music and working extensively with living composers, the question of legacy is an important one: What have I done to help usher new works into the repertoire of my instrument? This notion of "legacy" has a long history, as the major works for most instruments usually come about as a result of a strong relationship between a composer and a specific player. This CD represents a variety of new works for me by composers who are not only wonderful collaborators but also very close friends, and these pieces are part of an ongoing project to commission and record new music for the clarinet and bass clarinet.
